Short plant description
HU222 in culture
Diameter of the culture plant is ca 14 cm.
Plant height
without cephalium is 8 cm.
The colour of the epidermis is green to dark
green.
Number of ribs 16 to 20.
Number of areoles per rib is 9 to10
on plants with cephalium.
The shape of the areoles is oval.
The number of radial spines is 12 to14.
The length
of the spines is 3 cm. The spines are recurved
backwards to the plant. Mostly there is one
central spine with a length up to 4 cm. On the top of the plant the
central spines are longer and they are erect.
The colour of the spines are at first yellow to light
brown and later on grayish.The colour of the cephalium is grayish/white. The colour of the fruit is pink to red, sometimes
white. The position of the stigma is half-way up the secondary stamens.

Discocactus boomianus produces in
culture
just as many offsets in nature as D. araneispinus.
